I am sittin’ here, checkin mah Emailz, drinkin’ me Chocolate Milk and eatin’ mah toast. This is Tazz - she just finished a huge play session of racing around batting her soft green toy ball every which way for the last 20 minutes.

Now she is tired.

What are your critters up to Oppo? :P

The dog is sleeping in her crate. Our four cats are sleeping. The bonus foster cat is hiding. The rabbits are in love. The rats are sleeping. The geese want human attention. The ducks are flocking. The sole remaining guinea fowl in the pen thinks it’s a duck, and is flocking with them. And the chickens are running around the pen like the fluffy idiots they are. The conure sadly passed away last week.

I think that about covers it.

Kinja'd!!!

We just adopted her on 7/30, her name is Annabelle and she is still getting used to the new digs and Lucius, our 10-year-old, male cat is getting used to her.

She’s three. We had been looking to adopt a younger cat (10-16 months), but this one stole our hearts and knowing how difficult it can be for the older cats to get adopted, we took Annabelle home.

She’s currently sleeping in the window of the upstairs bedroom, protecting the house from squirrels.

We just adopted a kitty that looks very similar to Tazz. He was a stray kitten that ran into my garage and hid under my toolbox. He was pretty wild at first and didn’t want anything to do with people, but he really warmed up to my other cats quickly (and they to him).

Aww.

I just had a “moment” when it sounded like someone was trying to kick the bathroom door in while I was in the shower. Turned out it was my Maine coon (and he’s as worn out as Tazz, now).

And I think I missed your birthday the other day, so happy birthday!

Cutey! Tazz was feral as well - her mother was abandoned by our idiot neighbours next door and Tazz was the only of the three kittens she had that we managed to trap. It was a long road trying to tame her and get her to trust us, but it was a very emotionally rewarding one.

She’s not as jump-in-your-lap lovey-dovey as some kitties are, but Tazz is my buddy now and I’d be lost without her, haha!

Haha, thanks! I’m 30 now....scary stuff...time flies when you’re having fun I guess! Tazz will scratch at the bathroom door if I am in there....or indeed any closed door that I am behind, she always wants to know where I am!

Blame my wife - most of them are her fault. I just had two cats before we moved in together. :)

Tiger (we’re not very original) is still pretty skittish with us. Just in the last couple days I’ve been able to come up slowly and pet him. Most of the time he keeps just out of reach. I’ve been trying to let him interact with me on his terms.

My boys have other ideas though. They find him hiding under a chair or something and pull him out. Once you are holding him and petting him he purrs like crazy.

As crazy as it sounds, there are some things you can do to help him feel comfortable where is he more wild until he gets tamed.

Slow blink at him, but don’t look right into his eyes (eye staring is a sign of aggression until they learn to trust you completely)- it’s a sign of “I’ a friend/not going to hurt you” in cat language - ‘kitty kisses’ people call them. He’ll probably slow blink back to you once he trusts you somewhat. Also, always have your hands in view, and don’t come up behind him without him knowing you’re there. Make all your actions slow and deliberate so he knows exactly what you are doing until he comes around. As silly as it sounds, you can also pretend to fake clean yourself cat-style, as they will see it as a sign that you feel comfortable and friendly towards them, non-threatening. You can also leave a piece of your worn clothing near them overnight when they sleep.

(Call me crazy, but our neighbours had abandoned like 6 cats, so we’ve gone through it enough that we know this all works, haha!)

Guess I am a crazy cat guy, lol...
